In this episode of the Curl Power Podcast, I share my own experiences of my encounters with toxic masculinity.
I share stories of times where I have been made to feel frightened, violated and uncomfortable by men. Since listening back to the episode I’ve pondered as to why men behave this way over women and why it is that they feel entiled to treat us in this way. I think there must be some degree of the dehmanisation of women within the minds of these types of men that caused them to view as objects rather than people, and in reducing us to objects it somewhat that allows them to be justified in acting out their desires without consiquence.
I wonder what the role of pornography might play in this attitude. Regardless of the reasons this needs to stop. We deserve to be safe, we deserve to be respected and protected and toxic masculinity needs to be brought under control.
